The Give Away is underway ! ….

During the InnerTuba Mississippi River Tour ’23 audiences and others donated a total of just under $7,000. Thank you all so much. The money is safely held in a trusted US bank account. Now it’s time to start give it away – How immensely satisfying is that ?!

Donors know that their gift is ringfenced to support some small, grassroots, not for profit organisations which support children and young people (up to age 20) with a variety of special needs – all along the length of my Mississippi journey.

The InnerTuba Give Away helps keep alive the memory of Karin Prior a super Children’s Occupational Therapist, whose life ended suddenly following a car crash, back in 2012.

InnerTuba has given $1,000 to Bentleys Playground – www.kplay.org. They wrote this of their gift on their facebook page.

$500 each has been donated to Boothville Venice and South Plaquemines Elementary Schools in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. The money is supporting rewards for pupil attendance, paying attention in class, and overall good behaviour.

$1,000 has been givien to Raymond Library, Mississippi, to support literacy skills development among young library users who, for various reasons, need help to catch up.

$1000 will soon be on its way to support the work of www.ianice.org. The organisation assists recent arrivals from Ukraine to settle and integrate in Dewitt, Iowa. Children and young people can face a range of challenges, and we are considering how best to help them with InnerTuba’s pledged donation.

That leaves $3,000 yet to find a home for. As at May ’24 there are ideas in train, and contacts being made with prospective recipient organisations. Visit this page soon to see where the money is going !
