Get involved
While InnerTuba is a one man show, it is by no means a solo effort…
There are several ways in which you or your organisation can join the happy band of InnerTuba’s supporters. Here are some ideas:
You can pay InnerTuba to perform at yours, or someone else’s venue – this is the simplest suggestion !
You can supply equipment – such as musical instruments, a trike, clothing, outdoor expedition kit and multi media equipment – those sorts of things. InnerTuba has much of this now, but there’s always a “wishlist” !
You can contribute to major touring expenses – to cover, for example, flights, airfreighting, insurances, visa fees – those sorts of things.
You can provide a service – like repair a musical instrument, fabricate a trailer body, compose a piece of music, or give professional advice freely.
Composer Willie Gilmour “Got involved”. Thanks Willie, for your beautiful piece, “So Long” which we recorded together on 8th September 2016:
Thanks for visiting my studio and the glad that you liked the visual imagery that I am putting up behind Morecambe Brass Band during Morecambe’s Remembrance Concert. I liked the piece filmed in Cartmel Priory by Tim Churchill and Dave Weatherley from Morecambe Bay Movie Makers. The sound was superb and going with it, the pin sharp HD imagery .
I look forward to being on stage with you on the 8th November to see and hear you playing live.
Kind regards
Chris Abram
Greetings Chris,
Yes, the Morecambe Brass Band Rememberance Concert at the Platform, Morecambe 7.30pm Saturday 8th November will surely be a winner. Tickets, and further details available here.
Chris, the visual images which you at Eventspecialists and Heritage Video Productions have prepared for projection behind Morecambe Brass Band are a complete show in themselves! Add to that your ‘Master of Ceremonies’ compere skills and both Morecambe Band plus the audience are in for a unique audio-visual, evocative and uplifitng treat!
Of course, I am delighted to have the opportunity to solo ‘A case of you’ – as recorded by morecambe bay movie makers – live at the concert. The visual backdrop you have prepared for my solo are tasteful and fitting. Thank you so much for your support of InnerTuba, Chris. See you in The Platform green room, hair combed, shoes polished!
In anticipation, Jon.
Hi Jon,
Great to hear you are back on the road and that the Isle of Man tour is going so well for you.
Do you remember asking me for some advice about your website content?
Well I’ve written you a list!
1) Avoid alliteration. Always.
2) Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.
3) Avoid clichés like the plague. (They are old hat.)
4) Eschew the use of ampersands & abbreviations, etc.
5) One should never generalise.
6) Comparisons are as bad as clichés.
7) Be more or less specific.
8) Sentence fragments? Eliminate.
9) Exaggeration is a million times worse than understatement.
10) Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.
11) Who needs rhetorical questions?
Stick to these guidelines and you will be fine! 🙂
Hi Jon
We met in Ullapool last week (family on 2 tandems). Your travelling show and big project sound amazing. The best of luck with it all. And do drop us a line if you’re planning to pedal by Edinburgh anytime.
Al
Wow John! Now it all becomes clear !. Great cause, great challenge and a fantastic tribute and a way not to get stuck> The loss of the facial hair should help greatly with the aerodynamics….think on!!!!!!!!
An inspiring project and a great physical and musical challenge. Would love to do any promotional writing you need to get the story out there. We’re behind you all the way – any help, just ask. di
Thank you Di
Its really helpful to have you, a professional writer on hand to proof read and make suggestions about the content of innertuba.org.uk. Many thanks for your continued support.

Hello Jon,
I would be happy to get involved. Let’s work on a short film to promote the epic, “Inner Tuba Trans Canada Tour”. We can also set up an audio diary, to keep people aware of ongoing toil, training and trouble.
Keith.
Hello Jon,
I would love to get involved, so if you want a short film to promote the Trans Canada Inner Tuba Tour, 2014, then you have it.
Keith.
Uig Media
£50 pledge on its way to you in due course Jon. Great idea – I know you will make it ! As ever, Bob.
Hey Mate, don’t forget Derbyshire offers good training hills and great beer, keep pedalling forwards! catch up soon. I’ve forwarded this site to my friend Alan in Calgary.
Hi Simon and Zena – thanks for the encouragement ! Yes I remember meeting Alan briefly – an inspiring English youth worker who was heading for a new life in Canada. Just the sort of contact Inner tuba needs – although I’m not sure whether the route will be through Calgary or Edmonton yet – early days !
Jon.
I only knew Karin a bit from my dearest sis-in-law, Elaine. I know some very musical people here west of Lively, Ontario (near Sault Ste. Marie), and would be happy to help organize a date or two around here, and could come up with at least one place (we are just off the Trans-Canada Highway!).
Good luck!
Shelli
Hi Shelli – great to hear from you ! I’ll have your offer in mind whilst planning the itinerary… although I gather that the Trans Canada Highway between Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie is challenging for Trans Canada cyclists, many of whom skirt south into the US to avoid that busy and tricky stretch of road. I’m in contact with the good folk from http://www.bikingacrosscanada.ca who are advising me. Fingers crossed for a visit, especially if you are east of Sault Ste Marie…
Yes, Jon, we are about 50 km east of Sault Ste. Marie.
Let us know when your more into making your plans!
Jon, Lovely to meet you his week. I can’t tell you how much we respect and admire your courage at his time. My family and I will be watching your progress with interest and once you have sorted the ‘donate’ button we will definitely be helping you out.
Thanks jenny. was good to meet you too ! Yes we are looking into all issues around fundraising and collecting monies offered to get the show rolling. We should have something ready soon, even, to begin with if it is “cheques can be sent to”… whilst we develop other options. I’ll be notifying all who, through and outside this forum, have pledged support so far. Many many thanks to you all. Jon Hodkin. https://www.innertuba.org.uk
Thank you for visiting our Museum and your kind comments. Good luck from all of us here for your exciting journey…(do you need a good mechanic to blow your tyres up!)…you will have to do a return visit to the Museum to let us know how you got on. All the very best. Lesley (curator-cycles)
Hi Lesley. the Coventry Transport Museum is a true gem of England’s Midland region – and you are doing the city proud with both your permanent and temporary cycling exhibitions. I would be delighted to keep in touch (with a view to some kind of exhibition/talk after the tour perhaps?) There’s loads of good cycling history displayed at your museum, and some more about recent trends toward recumbent trikes would, I think, add to your profile. Thanks again and keep in touch and good luck. Jon Hodkin. https://www.innertuba.org.uk
awrabest my friend will post the challenge on my sites. Love and light
Tom will get you some kit , you to can sort that 😉 I’ll give you £50.00 to start with , and I’ll help we’re I can … Tom
And I think it’s amazing 😉
Thank you both. Tom, thanks for the offer of kit – the priority plan at the moment is to re design the trailer to make it lighter weight for the Trans Canada Tour. Pretty soon we will be making and testing some prototype frames, from various grades of steel tubing. We can talk about where to source the material. Thanks again. Jon. https://www.innertuba.org.uk
Hi Jon you know the Balfast Bicycle Club in Belfast will sustain you with max cholesterol with the largest Ulster fry. You need to do a training run in sunny Belfast at least twice!!
paul and arnie
Look forward to seeing you in Lively Ontario Canada! Best of luck with all the planning of your tour!!
Thanks Elaine – I look forward to a welcome. I’m working on the itinerary – which needs to take into account the best cycling routes alongside potential performance opportunities. I really hope that Lively works out to be on the route from coast to coast. I’ll keep you posted !
Jon Hodkin. https://www.innertuba.org.uk

I’ll let you know how to donate it when Inner Tuba’s financial framework is ready – early days, but we are working on it right now. Thanks again. Jon. https://www.innertuba.org.uk

Many thanks the Western Isles based Wade Family. I’m very grateful to you for your offer of overseeing my fitness and training programme. Whilst I will never match your athletic pedigree, your expertise and input into my strength and fitness training will be a real motivational boom.
